Urgent Care

We understand that urgent health needs occur. Patients do not plan on becoming sick, injured, or developing skin complaints such as rashes. If your child is sick, our office does its best to schedule your child for a same day appointment with his or her preferred provider. In the event that your primary care provider is unavailable, your child’s appointment will be scheduled with another available provider. Scheduling an urgent care appointment for an injured child depends heavily upon the severity of the injury. While our office does not specialize in acute care, we are available to evaluate your child’s injury and refer them to a specialist whenever necessary. If you know you want to bring your child in for an urgent care visit, we encourage you to call as early in the day as possible, starting at 8 am. Please be prepared to give as much information as possible about your child’s illness, injury, or skin complaint when you call to schedule the appointment. Some health concerns take more time to address than others, and we want to be sure to schedule your child appropriately.  When your child is seen for his or her urgent care appointment, his or her symptoms will be evaluated and treated promptly.

Call 784-5782 anytime during our office hours to schedule an appointment.

Probably the most common question we’re asked by parents is “should we come in?” As a parent, it can sometimes be hard to judge the urgency of a medical concern. It can also be hard to know if something is routine or unusual. This is why we have clinical staff available to answer your questions.  If you need some advice from a medical professional or you’re unsure your child’s symptoms warrant an appointment, our Medical Assistants are available to answer your questions. They also have direct access to our team of providers whenever necessary.

All patients and parents of Pediatric Associates are welcome to call 784-5782 anytime advice is needed about symptoms a patient is experiencing.

Costs Associated with Urgent Care Visits:

When your child is seen for an urgent care visit, the visit charge is based on the evaluation and management of the illness (99211-99205), including the need for prescriptions, tests, referrals, etc.  During an urgent care visit, your provider may find it important to order the following tests:

Providers may recommend running tests at a hospital of your choosing in an effort to treat your child’s symptoms. Throat cultures, urine cultures, blood tests, x-rays, MRI’s, and ultrasounds are some examples of procedures that will be billed to your insurance separately by hospitals.

You can contact your insurance company to find out if these tests/services are covered by your policy. If your insurance does not cover a test/service and you prefer not to have them performed, please let us know at the visit.
